FAST FORWARD YOUR CAREER
Are you a high-performance individual seeking guaranteed employment?
The PTC Advance™ Flight instructor Programme is the fastest way for a newly qualified Commercial Pilot to develop the competencies and experience needed to advance a flying career.
In the 2023 pilot employment landscape, airline demand for appropriately qualified and competent flight crew is at an all-time high and exceeds supply. Whilst there are many recently qualified Commercial Pilots, few have developed the required competencies or experience to achieve airline employment.
You can fast-track your career prospects through this innovative programme. From the moment that you begin working as a flight instructor with a PTC Advance™ partner ATO, you are earning money and gaining experience whilst developing airline-aligned operating and instruction competencies which will make you highly attractive to Commercial Operators.
Not only will you achieve a Grade 3 flight instructors rating and guaranteed employment, but also can advance your career towards employment as an Airbus A320 or Boeing 737 first officer with the minimum expense in the shortest timeline by being selected as a PTC Aviation A320 or B738 Type Rated instructor.

About the PTC ADVANCE™ Flight Instructor Programme
About the
PTC ADVANCE™
Flight Instructor Programme
Infographic “Ball Flag” Notes:
- On completion of your flight instructor rating, the PTC Advance™ programme guarantees employment with a PTC Advance™ partner ATO.
- Our partner ATOs are the leading South African ATOs which will afford you the opportunity to follow a structured career development pathway, in the shortest timeline, towards the requirements to become an unrestricted (Grade two) flight instructor with an instrument rating instructor endorsement.
- The PTC Advance™ programme will help you through your journey to completing your ATPL(A) theoretical knowledge exams. Through the programme, you will have full access to:
- The latest ATPL Theoretical Knowledge study material (including both SA CAA and EASA syllabi)
- Ground school lectures, facilitator expertise and support
- Practice question banks and examination centres
- The PTC Advance™ programme offers a fast-track, managed pathway to an A320 / B737 type rating, employment at PTC as an advanced instructor (with a SACAA pilot instructor endorsement for the relevant type) and thereafter the opportunity to join one of our partner A320 / B737 operators. Airline employers are now focussed on operating competencies rather than hours in the logbook, and this is the fastest way to a narrow-body transport jet job. Having facilitated training on the A320 / B738 will ensure that you have you have the valuable technical and instruction competencies which will make you attractive to employers as a trainer and potential training captain later in your career.
- After completing your Grade Two Instructor Rating, you may choose to continue adding to your flying experience, however this is of little value to your future employment prospects unless you begin to add multi-engine flight time. Continuing towards 1 500 hours, and an ATPL is a well-trodden road; the multi-engine instructor endorsement has been the preferred path, however CAR 61.12.5 (f)(ii) requires that you must have logged 20 hours as Pilot-in-Command (not Dual) in a multi-engine aeroplane before you can add the multi-engine instructor endorsement, and this is a costly barrier, which ATO’s are unwilling to fund.

What our students say about this course
Stephan Booysen
“My experience a PTC was an experience I’ll never forget. I have learnt more in the 3 months here than in my 7 years of flying. I highly reccommend anyone to do their Instructor Rating at PTC, worth every cent.”
