Attie Niemann
Attie started his Aviation career in the South African Air Force as an Air Combat Fighter pilot. Here, he flew many Operational Combat Missions on Mirage & Impala Fighter jets with 2, 3 and 7 Squadrons as a Flight Leader.
At that time, he was also the Airshow display pilot on the Mirage F1CZ Aircraft for the Airforce. After leaving the SAAF, he founded Streamline Aviation. He sold this Streamline Aviation in 1998 to Imperial Holdings, a JSE listed company. Through this merger, at the age of 36 he joined National Airways & Finance Corporation (NAFCO) and was appointed as Group Executive Director Operations. He was a shareholder of NAFCO, the holding Company at the time.
Under his leadership, NAC expanded its Fixed Wing and Helicopter Charter, as well as its International Operations and Training Divisions to the largest in Africa. NAC grew to become Africa’s largest Aviation Operation, which is highly respected and successful.
He was instrumental in the Acquisition of 43 Air School in 2002 and has been a board member since.
In 2009, he was appointed CEO of 43 Air School. In 2007, he founded 43 Advanced Training at Lanseria Airport and, in 2013 co-founded PTC Aviation.
A passionate entrepreneur, he also founded ATCON Construction as well as Funda & Go B2B (which are both successful IT companies in Toronto in Canada).
With nearly 40 years of aviation & business experience, he is also interested in Information Technology, Education &Training as well as History, Anthropology, Architecture, Science and Nature.
Wayne Westoby
With over 28 years of scheduled airline operational and line training experience Captain Wayne Westoby leads all training and development of PTC Aviation products.
A current A340/330 Captain and South African CAA DFE1(A) with over 20 years as a TRE/TRI on Boeing, Airbus and various commuter category types, Captain Westoby understands the operational challenges and training needs of scheduled airline and GA operations.
Since 1999 his focus has been ownership and training management of leading South African TRTO/ATO’s specialising in the development of operational airline competencies. His aviation training passion with the global need needed to develop competent Airline First Officers from newly qualified (CPL and ATPL )pilots culminated in the formation of PTC Aviation in 2013.
Captain Westoby remains active in various facets of South African aviation training development at regulatory and operational levels. He continues to works closely with key stakeholders in addressing gaps in the overall training mission.
He additionally directs training and development processes, and ensures that all new training staff receive high-quality orientation and on-boarding experiences. Captain Westoby plays a mentorship role to key training personnel, assisting in the execution of their duties when requested, honing their skills and ensuring their readiness for related training activities.
As mentor and trainer, his airline training focus continues to be the successful entry of newly qualified CPL (and ATPL ) pilots into scheduled airline operations.
