Started his career in the South African Airforce as an air combat fighter pilot, where he flew Operational Combat Missions on Mirage F1CZ, Mirage III CZ and Impala Mk I &II with 2 and 3 Squadrons.
After leaving the SAAF in 1991 he developed Streamline Aviation. Streamline Aviation with 24 Aircraft was sold to Imperial Holdings a JSE listed Company. Through this merger Attie joined National Airways & Finance Corporation and was appointed as Group Executive Director Operations. Under his leadership role NAC expanded its Fixed Wing and Helicopter Charter and International Operations and Training Divisions to the largest in Africa, to become a highly respected and successful operation with 130 + aircraft and over 300 Aircrew and Instructors operating Jet, turbine and piston Aircraft and Helicopters internationally.
Gaining his SAAF wings in 1980 he flew Impala, Cheetah, Mirage F1AZ aircraft as an operational strike leader and display pilot. In 1990 Wayne moved into commercial aviation as a FO at South African Airways. Extensive training development of low time SAA cadet pilots exposed Wayne to global B1900 and B200 operations as a TRE. With over 20 years of commercial pilot training experiance Wayne has focused in ownership and development of TRO/ATO's that specialise in the development of low time CPL pilots
As an SACAA DFE 1 (A), ex South African Airways TRE, AIM course facilitator, and new hire pilot mentor together with extensive cadet pilot development Wayne knows what training mix is needed for successful Airline entry of newly qualified CPL pilots
Wayne present operates for SAA as a Captain on the A340/330 and is TRI rated on the Boeing 747-400, Boeing 737, Airbus A320, B1900, B200.
